Become Part of This: Fundraise for TPA

Hi, this is Stronghold. I’m the volunteer founder of TPA. When I started Power to the Plurals back in 2017, there were almost no resources out there, let alone community, events, or anything like the Plural Census that The Plural Association Nonprofit has been organizing since 2020.

Hard to believe, but TPA has now reached over a million people in English, over a million in Dutch, and the Chinese Plural community has even been translating our articles on the Chinese internet, reaching Many more. What started by writing a blog about our own experiences in a singular-normative world grew into an international nonprofit, connecting Plurals all over the globe and providing over 250 free resources on Power to the Plurals, annual conferences, awareness days, and community year round.

It’s a Movement

But it’s not just a website. It’s not just resources. It’s not even just events. It’s a movement that can’t be stopped. A revolution for personhood and Plural rights. We exist, we are real, and we are not going anywhere.

None of this happened because of grants or institutions. It happened because Plurals and allies donated, volunteered, showed up, and spread the word. If you’ve ever contributed to TPA in any way, this is yours. You helped build this.

Why This Matters Right Now

Most resources for Plurals still come from Plurals. Many of us, myself included, volunteer our time. I live on disability income and donate my time to TPA, alongside many other volunteers, which saves TPA thousands of dollars each month. But many Plural projects come and go. We’ve all seen it happen recently. And if TPA were to ever disappear, there is nothing else like it to take its place.

We don’t just want to sustain. We want to thrive, grow, and be able to fund other projects, groups, and teams. Together we empower more Plurals.

TPA’s resources don’t just inform. They keep people going. When a Plural faces pluralphobia, a misdiagnosis, or a moment where everything feels impossible, there is an article to read right now on Power to the Plurals, a video to watch, a community to post in, a chat to join. That connection is what keeps people going. Sometimes they tell us. Most of the time they don’t.

But we know this work saves lives. The repeated suicide statistics for DID systems are very high. The Plural Association’s 2025 Plural Census shows that over 8 in 10 Plurals are also trans or nonbinary—a population with a statistically higher suicide rate. That’s not an abstract number. That’s our community. That’s who walks through that door at 3am needing to know they’re not alone. And that is what your donation protects.

How To Fundraise for TPA

Starting your own fundraiser for TPA is easy. Simply click the button ”Start Fundraiser” above, which leads to the donation page by our donor software. From there, click ‘I want to fundraise for this’ at the top and simply fill out the details. Optionally you can add your own text and describe in your own words why you are fundraising for TPA.

You can run a fundraiser for The Plural Association for your birthday, syscovery, as part of a live stream, through your workplace, or for any occasion that feels meaningful to you. Every fundraiser, no matter the size, helps us keep Plural support free, independent, and community-led.

Scholarships That Keep People in Community

In five years, TPA has awarded over 2,000 scholarships for community access and events. No other nonprofit in this space does this, and the few that offer any financial support do so in very limited amounts. Over half our community members are on scholarship because they can’t afford access anywhere else. This is only possible when we all pitch in, but it’s also the only way to make sure that more than 50% of our community isn’t left behind.

Here’s what Plurals have told us:

“One of the scariest things is being on your own going through this; TPA helps stop us from being alone.”

“This is the first time in nearly 30 yrs we have found safe people and places to talk all things plurality.”

“Having DID/alters can be an extremely isolating experience. The lack of widely available resources makes it even harder to manage symptoms. TPA is one of the only organizations completely focused on trying to change this. TPA changes lives. Including mine.”

“Donations to TPA are incredibly important to plurals as it gives back to a community that withstands so much stigma.”

The Ask

We’re not asking for large donations. We’re talking about the price of a coffee or a streaming subscription. Hundreds of thousands of Plurals visit Power to the Plurals every year. If even a fraction chip in a few dollars, TPA has thousands extra to spend each month on the things that matter. But if most of us think “someone else will do it,” no one does.

When we come together to fundraise, Plurals and allies alike, even a few dollars at a time, we keep 250+ free resources available and open that door wider for the next Plural who needs them.

Fundraise for TPA

But here’s the thing: you don’t have to donate directly. We’re inviting Plurals and allies to start your own fundraiser for TPA. Your birthday. Your syscovery day. An anniversary that matters to you. A moment you want to celebrate by bringing others into this movement.

When you fundraise for TPA, you’re not just giving money. You’re telling people in your life why this work matters. You’re building the revolution person by person, network by network. You’re reaching people who might never find us otherwise. And you’re showing them that Plurals support Plurals.

There are so many ways to be part of this: donate what feels right, start your own fundraiser page for your birthday, syscovery day, or any moment worth celebrating, share our donation page with a friend or loved one, or forward the Plural Competence Course to your therapist.

What you do ripples further than you know.
